Freewheel Wheelchair Attachment
The FreeWheel wheelchair attachment will allow you to travel over difficult terrains with ease. You will be able to pass over rough ground, wet leaves, sand, grass, and even snow. This gives you greater freedom and independence to make life more fun.
What is the FreeWheel wheelchair attachment?
This attachment consists of a sturdy wheel in a strong curvaceous frame. It clamps quickly and easily onto the front footrest of most manual day wheelchairs. Once attached, you swing the wheel back towards you, and this lifts your caster wheels up off the ground. There’s a bit of a nack to this movement, but you will quickly master it.
Attaching the FreeWheel to your chair is quick, easy and secure. Many people carry it in the boot of the car and just pop it on when they wish to tackle some tricky terrain. The attachment is lightweight, compact, and sturdy.

How does it make travelling easier?
All wheelchair users know how the caster wheels dig in and get stuck on anything except the smoothest of surfaces. Well, the FreeWheel wheelchair attachment lifts your casters up off the ground so the front of your chair is supported on one larger wheel. This wheel will let you pass over different surfaces easily. You will be able to travel along muddy woodland tracks covered with wet leaves or rocky trails. Cobblestones, gravel and many more difficult terrains will no longer impede your progress. You can even take a spin along the beach or over wet grass with the amazing FreeWheel wheelchair attachment. Furthermore, it makes climbing kerbs effortless.
The attachment makes pushing over any kind of surface much easier. This means that you need to put less effort into pushing so you will be able to travel further. Additionally, using less force protects your shoulders from possible damage which could inhibit your freedom and mobility in the future.
Can I customise my FreeWheel wheelchair attachment?
Yes, indeed you can. There are three frame colours to choose from, black, red, and blue. Also, the wheel spokes come in a choice of eight fun colours. There’s white, black, green, brown, pink, blue, red, and yellow.
The FreeWheel attaches to the footrest of many different wheelchairs. However, we also offer a universal footrest that ensures the correct and safe coupling of the attachment.
If you use a folding wheelchair, you will need to select the folding adaptor to be able to attach the FreeWheel wheelchair attachment to your chair.
To get the best out of your FreeWheel we recommend choosing the Off-Road rear wheels add-on option. These all-terrain wheels and tyres will enhance your grip on difficult surfaces and make the going even easier. Kit your standard day use manual wheelchair out with the FreeWheel wheelchair attachment and off-road rear wheels and there will be no stopping you.
How can I be sure it will suit me?
The FreeWheel wheelchair attachment was designed by wheelchair users for wheelchair users. We are so confident that you will love it that we will send you a FreeWheel to try at home, with no obligation.
So, what are you waiting for? Revolutionise your life with the incredible FreeWheel wheelchair attachment.

5 Marathons 5 Days Team –
In May 2017 three FreeWheels completed a total of nearly 400 miles along the South Coast as part of the ‘5 marathons in 5 days’ charity challenge. Using day wheelchairs we managed to get across all the terrain we came across and it’s no aggregation to say that without the FreeWheel it would not of been possible to complete this challenge.
