Wheelchair Disabled Holidays Israel

The Blue Flag program is an international program that reviews wheelchair accessible holidays.  Any location that flies the Blue Flag upholds environment standards and follows equality and diversity guidelines in terms of accessibility.  Israel now offers wheelchair accessible holidays Israel to nine of their beaches.

The Blue Flag also recognises that safety standards are up to scratch.  As the program has gone global, many people with and without disabilities look for this symbol whenever they go to a beach, as it tells them that it complies with various international standards.  These standards were set by the Foundation for Environmental Education.

Wheelchair accessible beaches Israel

The Foundation for Environmental Education was founded 30 years ago in France.  Since then, they have spotted nearly 4,000 beaches classed as wheelchair accessible Israel.  Being allowed to carry the flag is a truly prestigious award, so Israel is incredibly proud of their achievement.

Israel only started working towards the award a few months ago.  However, they have some big players as stakeholders, who have invested a significant amount of money in making the beaches and ports more accessible and safer, being allowed to fly the Blue Flag.  Orly Babitsky, the coordinator for Israel, currently works with EcoOcean, which is an Israeli marine education organisation.  It is his role to look into necessary developments to be awarded the Blue Flag.

Babitsky explains that he is also excited about the tourism it will bring to Israel.  Creating wheelchair holidays Israel that people will immediately know are of fantastic quality is a fantastic boost.  They know that there are numerous travel agents across the world who log into the Blue Flag website whenever a disabled person requests holiday advice.  For instance, if a tourist wants to visit the Red Sea, a travel agent may direct them to either the Jordan or to Israel.  If they then see that Jordan has a Blue Flag, but Israel doesn’t, their choice will be to go to Jordan.
